Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. and Teamsters Local 118 announced Saturday that after months of negotiating that included weekend meetings, the two sides have come to a tentative agreement that will be put before the members of the bargaining unit for ratification.
The parties declined to release details of the agreement Saturday night.
The two sides resumed negotiations on Friday, October 11, to resolve the expired labor agreement covering 900 warehouse workers, drivers and skilled tradesmen at the company’s headquarters in Rochester.
The Teamsters Local 118 picketed outside Wegmans headquarters on September 20 over the company's pension plans. Union representatives said that there were points of contention with the old contract and it had hoped to wrap up negotiations quickly.
News10NBC learned the local union authorized a strike and rejected Wegmans' latest offer at the beginning of October. Wegmans said that plan was its best and final offer.
