If you or someone you know count on Social Security checks to pay the bills, don't expect much of an increase next year.
For the second straight year, the cost of living adjustment in January is expected to be historically small.
An analysis by the Associated Press suggests it will be around 1.5-percent. The official number was supposed to come out Wednesday but has been delayed because of the government shutdown.
Current Social Security benefits will continue to be paid out but there could be delays processing new applications.
