While Columbus Day was a day off for kids in our area, some used it to learn more about their future.

On Monday, Monroe Community College and the Ibero-American Action League in Rochester, hosted a College Family Day with more than 55 students from the Rochester City School District and their parents.

Organizers say this gives both students and their parents a chance to see what MCC has to offer.

“They are learning about the school. Sometimes there is a misconception of what a two year school offers, being MCC or another school. It also gives the parents the opportunity to learn,” said Grace Tillinghast, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees at Monroe Community College.

There were workshops, a chance to meet with college staff and a tour of the campus.
