A British security official says plans for a large-scale terror attack have been thwarted with the arrests of four men Sunday in London.
The official says the men were plotting a shooting rampage similar to last month's assault on a shopping mall in Kenya that left at least 67 people dead.
It's not clear how advanced the planning was but the official says an attack was not imminent.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media on the record.
London police say the four men they are questioning on suspicion of terrorism are British nationals between the ages of 25 and 29, with roots in Turkey, Pakistan, Algeria and Azerbaijan.
