If you like Oreo cookies, you might be more than just a fan. Researchers say it's probably closer to a sugary addiction.
A team at Connecticut College found that Oreos activate the same pleasure neurons in the brain as narcotics like cocaine and morphine in lab rats.
Rats were given a choice, an Oreo or a rice cake, and a dose of saline or morphine. The rats picked the Oreos as much as they picked the drugs and their brains showed the same reaction.
Researchers say this kind of chemical reaction could be contributing to the obesity epidemic.
