Robberies in Rochester are up more than 15% from last year. That’s according to the latest crime statistics released by Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard Wednesday morning.
According to Sheppard, in 2013 each quadrant of the city saw an increase in robberies compared to the same time period in 2012 (January - September 2012). The crime stats report shows an upward trend after four years of near-record lows.
Police tell News10NBC the number of shooting victims is also up from last year, nearly 2%.

Homicide – 0%
Rape – Down 9.5%
Rape (Expanded definition) – Down 34.5%
Robbery – Up 15.2%
Aggravated assault – Down 7.4%
Burglary – Down 10.7%
Larceny – Down 9.5%
Motor vehicle theft – Down 14.3%
Police say they have recovered 886 guns this year, down from last year, but 443 of those weapons were crime guns which is an increase of 15% year over year. increase of 15%
