From the stage to the classroom. Members from the Rochester Broadway Theatre League stopped by School No. 2 Tuesday. The middle school program provides students with a chance to learn more about the arts.
Students are taught lessons around the theme of the show. Officials from the RBTL then visit the children and provide workshops before inviting them to see the show. This year's show is “War Horse”.
So far, students have been taught lessons about loyalty, self respect and tolerance.
David Peck, RBTL volunteer, said, “Today, I want them to understand that going to a show just isn't sitting in the seat. It's participating, seeing and interacting with what's going on on stage and making live theatre.”
This year, there are more than 800 students from 11 different schools taking part in the program.
