It's one of the most dangerous times for victims and domestic violence and that's why Governor Cuomo is urging victims to register in a safety program after filing a restraining order against their abuser.
The program is called "Savin'". It alerts victims the moment their alleged attacker is served with an order of protection. Officials say it's important for victims to be notified because abusers can become extremely violent after receiving the restraining order.
The program also provides the victim with an advocate and alerts them to other available support services.
