A big step for development in Penfield. On Thursday, officials unveiled the latest changes to Baytowne Plaza.
The "Street of Shops" unveiling marks the completion of the first phase of construction on that plaza. Eventually, the plaza will include a super Wal-Mart and leaders are hoping to eventually draw in other specialty shops too.
The project has been years in the making, but town leaders say it was worth the wait.
Tony LaFountain, Penfield Town Supervisor said, 'It really is starting to breathe a lot of life into this whole area and it has taken some time, but I think working together in a partnership fashion we've got the best for the community of Penfield and the surrounding area."
Officials say stores already in that plaza are already seeing an increase in business and traffic and they hope it will only get better from here.
