If you're planning to fly this Christmas, airfare deals are decreasing by the day. Shopping now might not save you a ton of money but it will guarantee that you get a seat.
According to FareCompare's Christmas cheap flight guide, during the third week of December, airline ticket prices jump from 30-percent for shorter trips to 90-percent for longer trips.
Industry experts say, if possible, plan your holiday trip during the cheaper December dead zone, the first two weeks of the month. Also, the highest prices are usually reserved for weekend flights and often you'll pay a premium for Fridays as well.
If you fly on Christmas day or New Year’s Day, you can expect to obtain a more reasonable fare.
Also, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve are usually less expensive.
