A New York utility is experimenting with concrete power poles.
NYSEG says it recently installed its first concrete utility poles in the Town of Patterson in Putnam County and Town of Bethel in Sullivan County.
Concrete poles can potentially last longer than traditional wooden poles and have a good record of withstanding wind, ice and snow.
NYSEG officials say they will assess the performance and determine if they are reliable and cost efficient.
