A new Japanese study of 27 healthy adults found one cup of caffeinated coffee increases blood flow in the finger, which is an accurate gage of blood circulation.

Drinking just five ounces of coffee increased blood flow by 30 percent compared to drinking the same amount of decaf.

Researchers say caffeine may help open up blood vessels and reduce inflammation, but the impact this has on heart health has not been determined.
