College students could be getting some money, thanks to a settlement over student healthcare plans.
State attorney general Eric Schneiderman announced the settlement with Markel Insurance Company Tuesday. An investigation by the attorney general's office found the company racked up nearly $3 million in overcharges to about 22,000 college students.
Markel will now pay out $2.75 million to students and colleges including more than 1,100 students in Rochester area. The settlement will mean a little over $100 for each student.
