They've helped to revitalize the area and improve the quality of life for many in the city of Rochester and on Thursday, six winners were honored for their work.
The participants were recognized during the Reshaping Rochester Awards luncheon. Some of the nominees include the South Wedge Planning Committee, the Memorial Art and the Gallery Centennial Sculpture Park.
The keynote speaker was Larry Glazer, CEO of Buckingham Properties. He was also named as an honoree.
Larry Glazer, Buckingham Properties, said, "The glass is really half full and it's getting fuller all the time. There are a ton of things going on in Rochester and it's very hard to get the word out and Rochester has a bit if a history of stopping and starting, we've got some failed ventures in our past, which I'm sure occur in all cities, but now things are happening and they're being completed and it's really important to get the word out."
Reshaping Rochester is a non-profit geared to help developers design facilities which best fit each neighborhood. The organization includes architects, artists, craftsmen and community members.
