The owners of The Marketplace Mall are planning some changes and they're looking for tax breaks to help make those changes happen.
Wilmorite says it has plans to demolish at least part of the space currently occupied by the Bon-Ton once the store closes in March. It will also tear down an adjacent building where DSW used to be. In place of both stores, the company says it hopes to bring new anchor stores and some specialty retail and restaurants.
It’s applying for a PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) for the new development.
Wilmorite says more information on the plans for those spaces will be announced in the coming weeks and a public hearing on that pilot application will be held next week.
