A 52-year-old Hilton man has been found guilty of vehicular manslaughter and DWI in the October 2012 death of 25-year-old Louis Alayon. A Monroe County jury found him guilty of the charges late last week.
On the day of the crash, Amber Reeves of Hamlin and her passenger, Alayon, were southbound on Route 260 (Sweden Walker Road) when a truck driven by Robert Mastowski pulled out in front of them. Reeves’ vehicle hit Mastowski’s truck and the collision caused both vehicles to roll over. Alayon was ejected from the car and died as a result of his injuries.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office tells News10NBC at the time of the crash, Mastowski’s BAC was .15 and he had three prior DWI convictions.
When he is sentenced, he faces five to 15 years in prison.
