More paid firefighters for Fishers Fire Department?

It looks like the fire commission in the Fishers Fire District might be ready to add more paid firefighters.

Homeowners elected two new commissioners Tuesday night who have campaigned to do just that. Incumbent Steve Limbeck along with retired Rochester firefighter Chuck Herb won the seats.

In the Fishers Fire Department, there are only 16 active volunteers and many people feel that's not enough for fire protection and that more paid staff should be added.

The treasurer has said it could add $100 to average homeowners’ property tax bill but that probably wouldn't happen until the next budget cycle.

The new commissioners will take office January 1.
