Livingston County is receiving $5.9-million to upgrade its 911 emergency communications system.
Governor Cuomo announced the grant earlier this month. It’s a combination of federal and state funds.
County officials say they plan to update their fire, police and emergency communications equipment so they can better serve the community. “I am very pleased that the Governor has made this award,” County Administrator Ian Coyle said. “Plans for upgrading and enhancing our regional interoperable communications system have been under development for over a year. This funding award is critical to help advance necessary improvements, and it helps reduce the burden on local tax payers.”
Earlier this year Livingston County received a $300,000 grant for similar upgrades.
