Charges have been dropped against an Irondequoit man accused of leaving the scene of a deadly crash in Pittsford.

Michael Hanna was the suspect in that crash. The District Attorney's Office says a judge reviewed the Monroe County Grand Jury minutes and determined there was legally insufficient evidence to move forward with the prosecution.

Sheriff's deputies were called to East Avenue and Kilbourn Road in Pittsford back in January for a man lying on the side of the road.

Emergency crews found 26-year-old Vaughn Steele of Penfield at the scene. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies say Hanna left the scene but later called 911 and said he was the driver that hit something earlier that night. Police say Hanna claimed he thought he hit a garbage can.

Hanna was also given a ticket for an unregistered vehicle.
