A nationwide crackdown on drunk driving starts today. The U.S. Department of Transportation will kick off its winter “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign at 11 a.m.
Federal officials are teaming up with local law enforcement to stop drunk driving. Similar campaigns have increased patrols on highways.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will also release new guidelines for ignition interlock devices.
In New York, drivers convicted of DWI have to blow into a device to prove they haven't been drinking before being able to drive their vehicles.
