A U.S. Postal Service employee has been suspended after mail was found along a road in Canandaigua.
A highway maintenance worker reported the mail found on Swamp Road last Thursday.
The U.S. Postal Service says 65 pieces of first class mail, 65 pieces of standard rate (business) mail and 100 periodicals were discovered.
Sheriff's investigators interviewed the postal employee they believed was responsible. A search of the employee's home found other pieces of mail that should have been delivered.
The employee is currently suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. The employee is not facing any criminal charges at this time. The case will be presented to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
