There are changes coming to city hall. Tuesday night Rochester City Council honored staff members who are retiring from the administration at the end of this year.

Current Rochester Mayor Tom Richards, who has given out many keys to the city in his time, received one himself.

The council also recognized Rochester Police Chief James Sheppard, Fire Chief Salvatore Mitrano and others.

There were more changes recognized at this regular meeting. Mike Patterson was sworn in as the newest council member. The former county legislator was chosen to represent the district Lovely Warren oversaw until she was elected mayor.

“When the opportunity presented itself, I took advantage of the opportunity. I'm simply grateful that members of city council decided that I would be a good addition to their body,” said Patterson.

At Tuesday night's meeting the council approved legislation to set the mayor's salary for 2014 at more than $140,000. Also, if you love seeing food trucks parked around the city, you'll be happy to know the council approved an extension of the pilot program, allowing those trucks to park in designated spots.
