Fire crews are still putting out hot spots in an apartment building on the corner of University Avenue and Scio Street.
Parts of the roof caved in around 9 a.m. which was about two hours after the first calls to 911 came in. It appeared the building was under renovation and no one was living there, however, the fire chief tells News10NBC crews found an injured man at the scene. The chief says that man jumped from a window on the third floor. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
Rochester Fire Chief Salvatore Mitrano said, “We did have a victim that was found that claimed he jumped from the window. He was taken to the hospital to be checked out.”
The fire is being called suspicious. Officers say the building will now have to be demolished.
