Police say he was shot and killed in broad daylight. Investigators say a Rochester man was gunned down around noon Wednesday in front of a store on the corner of Jay and Orchard Streets. This is the city of Rochester's 37th homicide this year.
The shooting happened outside the Ziyad Mini Market on the corner of Jay and Orchard Streets. Investigators say that the people who live in this neighborhood do not need to be alarmed. Officers said this was an argument between the two men in front of the store.
Police received a call around noon Wednesday about a man who had been shot in the front of the mini market. Investigators say police responded quickly. When they arrived, they we're told the victim, 27-year-old Antoine Brown, of Rochester, had already been taken to the hospital by someone who had been driving by at the time. Investigators said it appears that the argument between Brown and the suspect escalated into shots being fired.
Commander Wayne Harris, Rochester Police Department, said, “We do think we are looking for a single suspect. We believe this is something that happened just between the two of them. It's not something that the rest of the neighborhood here needs to be concerned with as far as threats to them.”
The investigation is still underway. They are reviewing surveillance video from the area. They are asking for the public's help. If anyone has any information, they are asked to call 911.
