There are those rare athletes that have the ability to excel in any sport. Jessica Walker is a track and field star, basketball, tennis even Taekwondo. She never tried skeleton though until a month ago and now the Aquinas grad is preparing to compete in future Olympic games.
After graduating from Aquinas in 2008, Walker attended Buffalo State where she was a conference champ in the triple jump and 100 meter hurdle. Her coach recently suggested she consider a winter Olympic sport. So Walker went to Lake Placid where she qualified for Olympic winter school and placed to compete in skeleton.
News10NBC followed Jessica back to Lake Placid last month, where for the first time, she went down the ice.
After her performance, Jessica was accepted to the U.S. Developmental Team where she will train for the 2018 games in South Korea.
News10NBC will have more on Walker leading up to the Olympics, along with many other stories of our local athletes that will head to Sochi. News10NBC is your official Olympics station. You can catch the action starting February 6 on News10NBC.
