Target announced on Friday it will offer a discount to shoppers this weekend following a data breach affecting millions of customers.
The deal will be in effect Saturday and Sunday and officials say all guests will receive a 10% discount on purchases made at any U.S. store.
Target announced the discount on its website on Friday. In that release, Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel says, "We take this crime seriously. It was a crime against Target, our team members, and most importantly, our guests. We’re in this together, and in that spirit, we are extending a 10% discount – the same amount our team members receive – to guests who shop in U.S. stores on Dec. 21 and 22."
In the post, Steinhafel also apologized for difficulties customers have had contacting the company online and by phone.
The data breach may affected 40 million customers that shopped at the store between Black Friday and this past weekend.
