It's the holiday season and it's the time of year when many people look to give back to people who are less fortunate. Even the governor wants to do his part.

Saturday afternoon Governor Cuomo was in Rochester for a clothing and school supplies drive at the YWCA on Clinton Avenue. The governor also handed out toys to local children collected by state workers.

Cuomo was joined by Mayor-Elect Lovely Warren and other local elected officials, as well as Gary the Happy Pirate.

"It's really about giving, not receiving, and it's really a time to pause and remember family and those who need more, remembering the spirit of community, and bringing people together and sharing benefits and burdens and remembering that we're all connected,” said Gov. Cuomo.

All of the clothes and supplies donated Saturday will go to homeless teens in our area.
