A man in Gates had to be rescued after he fell eight feet down into an old septic tank Saturday night.
It happened on Rossmore Street around 7 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters say the rain and the man's weight is what made the septic tank collapse in. The 50-year-old man was trapped for about 45 minutes.
Rescue crews actually rigged a pulley system to get him out. News10NBC is told a firefighter also climbed a ladder down into the hole and helped get the man to safety.
He was taken to Strong Hospital for exposure to the cold weather.
