The family of a missing Rochester man came together Monday night to celebrate his birthday and hold what they call a "vigil of hope."

Matthew Straton was last seen on October 28th.

A large group listened to Matthew's mom, Kym Straton, speak at the Durand United Church of Christ.

She spoke with News 10NBC Today in November, and told us that Matthew had fallen in with a rough crowd, but wouldn't just disappear and leave his two dogs without care. She says the family has helped get each other through this rough time.

"We're all sharing the same sadness and we all have good days, we all have bad days," Straton said. "We try to help each other through both days."

We have been checking with Rochester Police about the investigation, and we will post any updates on whec.com.
