An anonymous woman helped make Christmas even more special for families in our area. Officials say she paid for gifts of strangers at a Kmart in Victor.
We were contacted by a Naples family that says the generous stranger paid for their presents and we were there Christmas morning while the family opened their presents. To say they were shocked when they heard the news would be an understatement, but for them they are taking this as a learning experience for the children. To show the power of kindness and paying it forward. For this Naples family, its about more than just the gifts.
"It was a blessing and surprise to us," said Lisa, mother of the family.
A blessing and surprise brought to this family by a "Christmas angel." Under the tree this Christmas morning were dozen of presents, but Lisa and Bill didn't pay for all of them.
"Friday, we were shopping and we got a phone call from my layaway at Kmart saying that everything was paid, but a penny from a Christmas angel, and I had to make the poor girl repeat herself."
Lisa says, "I just started crying."
For Lisa, her husband and their five children, this random act of kindness was the perfect example of how they want their children to treat others.
"I am always telling the kids do something just to do it, don't expect anything in return and be nice to everyone, all the time, no matter what."
"It showed our kids that someone else, out of the blue can do something for you, without anything in return and I think that's the most important thing."
As the kids opened the gifts, they were reminded that it was the kindness of a stranger that made it all possible.
That Naples family says they want to say "thank you very much" to whomever the "christmas angel" is and want her to know they will pay this act of kindness forward.
