One dead, another injured in crash on Route 63 in Orleans County

News10NBC has learned that one person has died and another was injured in a one car crash in town of Shelby in Orleans County.

The crash happened at 11:35a.m. on South Gravel Road (State Route 63) between Oak Orchard Ridge Road and the Genesee-Orleans County Line in the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge.

Sheriff's Deputies say 43-year-old David Russo, of Stafford, Genesee County, was driving his car south on Route 63 when he lost control, crossed the center line, ran off the road and overturned into a flooded swampland. Russo and his passenger, 40-year-old Lisa Stanley, of LeRoy, Genesee County, were rescued. Russo was pronounced dead about an hour later.S Stanley was taken to Medina Memorial Hospital, but then transferred to Highland Hospital. 

Sheriff's Deputies say the weather and slippery roads were contributing factors in the crash.
