Feeling overly tired may not be tied to how long we sleep, but instead to when we sleep.
Experts say that's because social obligations restrict us from sleeping more closely with natural light patterns.
German researchers have dubbed this "social jet lag" as the difference between the time we are forced to wake up and our optimal biological wake up time.
This mismatch is linked to an increase in alcohol, cigarette and caffeine use, as well as a 33% greater chance of obesity.
