It's the fourth day of Kwanzaa and Sunday afternoon the creator of the celebration was in town.
Doctor Maulana Karenga gave a keynote address at the Memorial Art Gallery. He spoke about the meaning behind the values of Kwaanza.
"They speak to the people who created them, but they also speak to the best of what it means to be both people and human at the same time. So Kwanzaa joins the best of African culture speaks first to Africans, but it also speaks to the best of what it means to be African and human at the same time,” said Karenga.
Doctor Karenga created the holiday in 1966 to reinforce seven basic values of African Culture.
