Nobody wants to be outside for a long time when it's this cold out. But many people in our area don't have a warm bed to stay in most nights.

The Open Door Mission is adding more beds to help them come out of the cold.  It's part of a "Code Blue Alert" issued Sunday.

News10NBC talked with a man Monday night who says he's grateful for this.

“I can have a place to stay right now and have something warm to put in my stomach, you know, and that's what I need and that's what other people need too,” said Toby McDowell.

Officials at the Open Door Mission say donations of towels, blankets, cosmetics and other items are always helpful. You can also volunteer your time. If you'd like to do that, click here.
