It was a memorable new year for many couples across our area as they welcomed new babies into the world on New Year's Day.
The very first baby of the new year for our area was born at Highland Hospital just a few minutes into 2014. Her name is Nora Grace Lane. She's the daughter of Lisa and Paul Lane of Avon.
The couple, along with big brother Jackson, welcomed her into the world at just ten minutes after midnight. Nora was due last Friday, but obviously wanted to wait it out to make a very big entrance into the world.
“It really never even crossed my mind, because she was late and he was eight days late, so I figured it was going to be really late. It never even crossed my mind she'd be the first baby of the new year,” said Lisa Lane.
At last check, Highland Hospital had at least four babies welcomed into the world Wednesday, with at least three at Strong Hospital and one at Rochester General.
Rochester General Hospitals says its first baby of the new year was born at 3:59 a.m.
At Strong Memorial Hospital, the first baby was born at 5:27 a.m. Willow Paige Blair was born to Corrinne Blair and Cody Clarke of Bloomfield. She weighs 6 pounds, 7 ounces and is doing well.
Congratulations to all the new moms and dads.
