Although it wasn't a great day to be driving around Rochester, Mayor Lovely Warren's new management team spent the day on a bus tour Thursday. It was a way for them to become more acquainted with several different neighborhoods in the city.
The group visited a Brooks Landing in the 19th Ward, Lyell Avenue and Mt. Read Boulevard in the Josanna Neighborhood they also saw several places in between.
Mayor Warren said the bus tour served two purposes The mayor said it was a great team building exercise and she wanted her managers to have a up close and personal look at some of the city's more challenging neighborhoods.
News10NBC caught up with the bus at the David Gantt Community Center on the northeast side of the city. The team also visited St. Joseph House on South Avenue and Collegetown near the University of Rochester. At each stop,. community leaders were available to share ideas and concerns about their neighborhood with Warren's team.
Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren said, “ I wanted the senior management team to know who we serve. I wanted them to see to visually see the good, the bad and the ugly. We picked a bad day to do that but getting the gist they went to visit projects we have ongoing and also to visit some of our more challenging areas.”
Mayor Warren is the first mayor to organize a bus tour for her management team. Given the weather today, she said she would like to hold another one when the weather is better, perhaps in the spring or summer.
The Rochester City Council held a swearing in ceremony Thursday. Five at large members of council were sworn in at City Hall.
