Home destroyed in Barre fire

The Barre Fire Department says it took three hours and ten fire companies to put out a fire on East Barre Road.

According to firefighters, the blaze started around 8:30 p.m. Friday night on East Barre Road just west of Cushing Road.

Officials say the blaze began in the back of the house and spread from there. Firefighters say they had to call in tankers for extra help battling the flames.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire. One firefighter was taken for examination after he fell during the blaze, but no other injuries were reported. Firefighters say the home was is a complete loss as a result of the blaze.
