A 47-year-old Steuben County man is facing a slew of charges after police say he attacked his wife after a night out.
Michael Pygott is charged with criminal mischief, criminal obstruction of breathing, endangering the welfare of a child, assault and harassment.
Troopers say Pygott and his wife arrived home from a night out around 1 a.m. Sunday. When the couple got home, investigators say Pygott became angry over Christmas decorations that were still up and took them and threw them out the front door, destroying them.
According to police, an argument ensued and Pygott shoved his wife into a wall, punched her in the head and choked her. Pygott’s eight-year-old son attempted to stop the attack while another child called 911.
