It was back to school today for Rochester area kids. With temperatures in the single digits and wind chills below zero, that meant bundling up.
Nikki Rudd caught up with students in the East Rochester School District as they headed back to school Wednesday.
Even when you’re bundled up like the Jones girls, it’s still cold out there. Their father, Jerry Jones said, “The girls are anxious to get back to school but it was still concerned about the temperatures. It’s still cold.”
Some parents and kids say it's way too cold to be walking to school today while others say it’s no big deal, we live in Western New York after all.
Kindergartener Alex Cuello wasn't psyched about sticking around for an interview and we don't blame her. Father Sly Connell agreed. The cold can't stop the kids around here from making it to school. “I expected it. It's not that cold today.”
And he's right. East Rochester’s Interim Superintendent Richard Stutzman says he considers road conditions, the amount of snow and wind chill when it comes to closing schools. He says it's one of the hardest decision to make and no matter what, not everyone will be happy.
