A 79-year-old woman is in intensive care after firefighters rescued her from a smoke-filled apartment for the second time this year.
Crews were called to the scene of the East Main street apartment building on Wednesday. When they arrived, fire officials found an unresponsive woman in a third floor apartment.
The woman was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital where she remains in ICU after suffering from smoke inhalation.
Officials say the fire seems to have started on a sofa in the apartment, but the exact cause is still under investigation.
We've learned this isn't firefighters first trip to the apartment.
Last March, crews responded to a fire in the same apartment. It was later determined that fire was caused by what officials call a careless smoker.
