First Niagara Financial Group is closing 10 branches and eliminating 170 jobs.
The Buffalo-based bank said Wednesday the positions are being cut throughout its four-state territory.
The job reductions come as the bank moves administrative duties out of its branches.
Bank officials say laid-off employees have been invited to apply for other jobs within the company. First Niagara says it is actively recruiting to fill more than 250 positions.
No Rochester branches are closing. Six Rochester employees will be impacted and another 15 will be promoted as part of the restructure.
