Authorities say a western New York sheriff's deputy has escaped serious injury after he was dragged about 100 feet by a car driven by a man wanted by state parole officers.
The Genesee County Sheriff's Office says Deputy Brian Thompson responded Wednesday to a report of a car that was struck along Route 33 near the village of Corfu, 25 miles east of Buffalo.
After being informed that the 36-year-old driver was wanted by parole officers, Thompson ordered him to get out of the car. Officials say the man refused and began to drive away, trapping the deputy's arm in the window.
Thompson managed break the window and subdue the driver, but only after two truck drivers pinned the car against a snowbank.
The deputy suffered minor injuries. The parolee is in jail.
