The Henrietta Town Supervisor says the town is looking into buying the Dome Arena, after a deal with the Rochester Razorsharks fell through.

Supervisor Jack Moore says the town is looking into the property, but are still in the very early stages of assessing the property and discussing a purchase.

He tells News10NBC, "I would say we are in the incubator stage at this point. There was discussion prior -- before the Razorsharks came in. I was an advocate of purchasing it, the town board liked the idea and wanted the former supervisor to get it appraised. That never happened and the Razorsharks came in with an offer that was much higher than what I had in mind."

Moore says that the town is currently in the process of assessing the value of the arena. After that, the town board will mull over the issue and get public input before making any decision.

"I won't be anything without doing that discussion, I owe it to the people," says Moore. "I'm not going to spend that kind of money without their input."

The cost of purchase and renovation would likely be in the millions, according to Moore.

Moore says, "It's a very important piece of property and has been looked at by past administrations as a town center. I won't call it a town center, but maybe we can establish Henrietta's village."

News10NBC will continue to track the sale of Dome Arena and bring you updates when they are available
