Monroe County democrats held a news conference Monday regarding last week’s announcement that the County will end a contract to manage and operate publicly owned golf courses three years early.
Today democrats called for the County to explain to residents the whole story of why the contracts are ending. On Friday, County Executive Maggie Brooks explained that the contracts with Jack Tindale Incorporated will be terminated at the end of December of this year.
Democrat Joe Morelle Junior said, “For too many years the courses have been in dire straits. Greens that have fungus, the fairways that are just dirt. Tax payers deserve courses that they should be proud of."
In response, Monroe County Communications Director Justin Feasel issued a statement late Monday saying, "The Legislature Democrats are so obsessed with politicizing everything that they can't even recognize that this governmental decision is a hole-in-one."
The County will still run the courses, but they are currently looking for people to run customer-related golf course services.
