A 20-year-old Rochester man has been charged in connection with a shooting that sent a 13-year-old girl to the hospital Monday night.

Police tell News10NBC a group of men were standing in the driveway at the home on Hollister Street when a silver minivan pulled up and a person in the van fired several shots at the group. The 13-year-old victim was on the porch when she was shot. Investigators say she was not the intended target.

Joshua Sutton is charged with second-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment.

The victim's mother released a statement through hospital officials saying, “Our daughter is doing fine and recovering, though she is understandably scared. We are grateful for the community’s support as our family gets through this traumatic time and helps her heal physically and emotionally.  We appreciate the prayers and well wishes, though we want to move past this privately.”
