Quentin Gause was told at a young age he would never make it and that he wasn't smart enough. But he proved people wrong.
A former football star at Bishop Kearney, Gause is now a linebacker for Rutgers. On Wednesday morning, he spoke to students at Marshall High School. The focus was not on his ability to tackle players, but how to tackle academics.
Gause's message focused on what students need to get to the next level, which includes good grades and extracurricular activities. He says don't be a product of your environment, be a leader. On the field, the red shirt sophomore had a breakout year, 44 tackles and a sack.
Quentin wants kids to use his story as motivation.
