Coming together to prevent child sexual abuse was the goal of an event held at the Bivona Child Advocacy Center.
New numbers were revealed showing that child sexual abuse is actually on the decline. From 1992 to 2010, it declined by 47 percent.
Organizers say many factors are contributing, including stricter laws, more awareness and more treatment for both victims and offenders, but they also say we can still do more to keep children safe.
Mary Whittier, Executive Director, Bivona Child Advocacy Center, said, "Every day, we need to work harder. This is just giving us the momentum we need to continue to fight to protect our children, to talk openly about child sexual abuse and do do an even better job than we are now."
The center says even more education and awareness about child sex abuse is still needed.
