Inspiring the next generation to take a hold of their future was the goal of a conference called "Cool Women, Hot Jobs". It was held at the Young Women's College Preparatory Charter School Thursday.
Speakers ranged from architects to artists, even a costume designer. Mayor Lovely Warren was also there. She gave a keynote address.
News10NBC spoke to leaders at the school about why the event is so important to the young women's futures.
Lashunda Leslie-Smith, Young Women's College Prep, said, "We truly believe here that before a girl can be it, she has to see it, and that was the whole purpose of this program. They can see the women walking out their careers, they can ask questions, they can get guidance and information about the educational background that they need in order to enter into that field."
Young Women's College Prep Charter School is the city's first and only all girls public school. The school is currently accepting applications for incoming 7th, 8th and 9th graders in the fall.
