News10NBC has learned that Reggie Hill, the director of Mayor Lovely Warren's security detail, has been reprimanded by Rochester's Deputy Mayor Leonard Redon.
Hill has been suspended without pay for a week after being pulled over by state troopers twice in the same day last week for speeding on the Thruway.
When Mayor Lovely Warren was asked in a press conference on Monday if they were pulled over going down or coming back from Albany, she replied, "coming back."
But according to the letter Hill sent out today, they were pulled over twice, once on the way there and once on the way back.
Hill says both times he explained to the trooper that based on his experience it was the practice to drive this way for safety reasons.
According to the letter, Hill says the first time he was pulled over the trooper let him go. But the second time, Hill says he was verbally reprimanded by the trooper, and told to abide by the speed limit.
So why did Mayor Warren only mention being pulled over once during Monday’s news conference?
News10NBC went to city hall to ask her, but she refused to comment.
Hill will be suspended for a week without pay, starting Monday. He will also have to pay a $50 fine for turning right on red without coming to a complete stop. That was never mentioned in Monday’s news conference either.
In a statement Thursday afternoon, Hill said he takes full responsibility for this and regrets any embarrassment it may have caused Mayor Lovely Warren. You can read Hill's entire letter written to the Redon by clicking here.
