Police say speed and alcohol were factors in a crash that shut down a portion of Ridge Road between Jackson Road and Barrett Drive in Webster Friday morning.
Webster Police tell News10NBC a sergeant was on patrol on Ridge Road when he saw a speeding vehicle go off the road into a telephone pole near 1100 Ridge Road. It happened around 2:30 a.m.
The driver of the vehicle, 28-year-old Charles Reppard of Webster, was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The road was closed for nearly seven hours while police investigated and crews repaired the utility pole.
